The Space
The ArcHive is designed as a flexible working studio where teaching, production and live creative activity can happen alongside one another.
Its setup supports DJing and music production as well as podcast recording, livestreaming and collaborative live sessions.
This allows participants to learn in an environment where creative work is actually happening, developing skills and confidence while gaining experience of different roles within a working studio.
Creative Training & Progression
The ArcHive is both a creative workspace and a training environment.
Participants can begin through supported sessions and gradually develop the skills, confidence and responsibility to work more independently, contribute to productions and take on different roles within the studio.
Podcasts, livestreams, live jams and other productions also create opportunities to learn through real activity — whether performing, recording, interviewing, producing, assisting or supporting the running of a session.
This reflects the wider Grooveschool approach: learning through participation in real creative environments and progressing from taking part towards contributing, collaborating and taking greater responsibility.
Best Suited For
The ArcHive is particularly suited to podcasting, DJing, livestreams, live jams, music production, creative mentoring, workshops and collaborative creative projects.
The space is used by Grooveschool participants and programme partners, as well as artists, producers, podcasters, educators and community organisations through selected studio hire.
What's Going On
The ArcHive is home to Grooveschool’s ongoing What’s Going On community podcast.
The podcast brings people together for conversations, interviews and creative exchange while also creating opportunities for participants to gain practical experience around recording, interviewing, production and digital media.
