Commissioned Creative Mentoring Provision
Creative mentoring provides a different way for young people to engage, develop and progress.
Grooveschool provides structured creative mentoring for schools, Alternative Provision, local authorities and youth services.
Through music, media and technology, we combine practical creative activity with consistent mentoring to support confidence, engagement, wellbeing and progression.
Our provision is particularly suited to young people who benefit from a creative, relationship-led approach and can be delivered within education and community settings or at our South London studios.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
Our commissioned provision can include:
– 1-to-1 creative mentoring
– Small-group creative programmes
– DJing and live performance
– Music production and recording
– Podcasting and audio production
– Photography, film and digital media
– Creative wellbeing activity
– Re-engagement and targeted intervention
– Creative-industry and progression projects
Sessions can be delivered:
– During the school day
– As Alternative Provision placements
– After school
– As targeted intervention programmes
– As termly or longer-term provision
– As time-limited commissioned projects
Delivery can take place within partner settings or at our South London studios.

Young people learn through making, experimenting and contributing to meaningful creative activity. As confidence develops, they are supported to build skills, make choices and gradually take greater responsibility.

We agree appropriate aims with commissioners and can provide progress updates, attendance information, participant feedback and impact summaries where required.
How Commissioning Works
Programmes can be commissioned:
– As individual placements
– As small-group programmes
– As targeted intervention blocks
– As termly or longer-term provision
We begin by discussing the needs of the young person or group, the setting, intended outcomes and practical requirements.
From there, we agree an appropriate programme structure while retaining enough flexibility for delivery to respond to individual interests, engagement and progress.
Continuity & Progression
Where appropriate, a commissioned placement can connect into Grooveschool’s wider creative community.
Young people may progress into regular studio activity, further creative programmes, performances and projects, volunteering, work experience or other opportunities.
This means a placement does not necessarily have to end when the commissioned period finishes. Where it benefits the young person, we aim to create a meaningful route forward.
